Lent - my soul's spring cleaning

lent is a season of renewal - a time to spring clean my soul.
instead of giving something up, i take inventory of the cumulative junk and wild chaos that like sticky cholesterol has clogged my spiritual system. it's a time to untangle the twisted knots, to minimize the craziness, to unload the worldly crud....
today i meditate on balance...
so many times i set out with healthy intentions only to find myself waistdeep in emotional muck and unchecked desires.
i need to spring clean these rooms.
i need to be ruthless in ridding myself of all the debris.
i want to be able to fully breathe, inhale - exhale, and feel completely settled.

Jaki - your Lent plans sound wonderful! I agree that I don't like to give up things for Lent. Instead I try to find things that I can DO that will bring me closer to God. To be completely honest, it's been quite a few years since I've thought about doing something for Lent, but this year seemed the perfect year to get back into it. I've been starting each day with reflective time in prayer at Sacred Space. It has become something that I have every intention of continuing even past Easter. I don't know how I got through each day before I started doing this! :)

I hope you have a successful spring cleaning!
